Regulatory Review
The firm acted as the legal consultant in a study commissioned by the State of Selangor on the Selangor Malay Reserve Enactment resulting in a report that contained, inter-alia, the study on the effects of the current provision of the Malay Reserve Enactment on the development of Malay Reserve Land, suggestion on changes to the Enactment, suggestion on the incorporation of statutory bodies to be the impetus to the development of Malay Reserve Land and suggestion on various legal approaches to enhance the dynamism in the development of Malay Reserve Land in the State of Selangor.
The firm has participated as a member of a consortium appointed by the City Hall of Kuala Lumpur to undertake a major Local Plan Study for the City of Kuala Lumpur. This Local Plan is to chart the planning of the City of Kuala Lumpur to reach the status of a World Class City by the year 2020. The firm’s input is the review of all major legislations, providing advise to other consultants on legal issues pertaining to specific areas of studies and to study the legal framework required to be implemented to enable the City of Kuala Lumpur to achieve the World Class City status. The study of the legal framework includes comparative study of planning legislations of some international cities including Melbourne, Sydney and London.
